Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal completed an impactful water conservation project in the village of Asose, Taluka Murbad, during the year 2021. This initiative was undertaken to strengthen the water security of the region, where villagers often faced challenges related to seasonal water shortages and unreliable rainfall.
With full financial support from VSM, a scientifically designed water storage structure was constructed, offering a substantial capacity of 49,00,000 liters. This reservoir has emerged as a dependable source of water for the entire community, ensuring steady availability for domestic needs as well as cattle use, which plays an important role in the livelihood of rural households.
The project has enabled irrigation across nearly 50 acres of agricultural land, giving farmers the confidence to cultivate multiple crops even during dry spells. Improved water availability has boosted local farming, increased productivity, and contributed to economic stability for families dependent on agriculture. Additionally, the project has reduced the burden on women who previously had to travel long distances to fetch water.
This achievement reflects VSM’s dedication to rural development and long-term water sustainability.
