The village of Bandeshet-2 in Murbad Taluka has faced ongoing challenges due to inadequate water availability, affecting daily household needs, cattle care, and agricultural activity. To provide a sustainable and long-lasting solution, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, with the generous financial support of Mahindra Finance, implemented an impactful water conservation project in 2025.
This initiative involved the construction of a durable water storage structure with an estimated capacity of 77,70,000 liters. The reservoir now ensures more reliable water access throughout the year, reducing villagers’ dependence on uncertain seasonal sources. With a consistent supply of water, nearly 5.36 acres of cultivation land can now be irrigated effectively, supporting farming activities and helping families improve their agricultural yields.
Alongside agricultural benefits, the project has significantly supported domestic water use and ensured adequate water for cattle, which are a critical source of livelihood for rural households. The improved groundwater recharge and strengthened ecological balance have also contributed to the overall resilience of the village.
This project marks a meaningful step toward long-term water security in Bandeshet Khalcha.
