The village of Dadarwadi-2 in Murbad Taluka has long faced water scarcity, affecting both domestic needs and agricultural productivity. To provide a sustainable solution, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, with generous financial support from Rotary Nerkar, executed a major water conservation project in 2023. This initiative was designed to improve water security, enhance agricultural output, and strengthen rural livelihoods.
A large water storage system with an impressive estimated capacity of 1,40,00,000 liters was constructed, providing a dependable year-round water source. This reservoir has substantially improved water availability for households and ensured sufficient supply for cattle, which are vital to the village’s livelihood ecosystem. With consistent water access, approximately 32 acres of farmland now receive reliable irrigation, allowing farmers to grow multiple crops and achieve better yields.
The project has significantly boosted groundwater levels, reduced the burden of water collection for villagers, and increased resilience during dry seasons. It has improved living conditions and strengthened the economic stability of the community.
