Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal successfully completed a water conservation project at Dhavadyacha Shet Talav in Shahapur Taluka during the year 2024. The project was undertaken to strengthen a vital local water source and to ensure reliable water availability for domestic use and livestock in the surrounding rural area, particularly during periods of seasonal water scarcity.
Through planned conservation measures and community participation, the project enhanced the water storage capacity of the talav to an estimated 9,27,500 liters. This conserved water now supports daily household requirements, reducing dependence on distant or unreliable water sources. The talav has also become an important and dependable water source for cattle, contributing to improved animal health and supporting the livelihoods of farming families.
In addition to its direct benefits, the project has positively impacted groundwater recharge in the area, helping to stabilize nearby wells and improve overall water availability. The initiative was financed jointly by Naam and Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, demonstrating a collaborative approach toward sustainable water resource management and rural development.
Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal continues to work towards conserving and restoring traditional water bodies to build long-term water security and resilience for villages across the region.
