Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, successfully completed the Ganganwadi–1 Upper Check Dam in Ganganwadi Village, Taluka Shahapur, with the generous support of Mrs. Pallavi & Mr. Prasad Rekhi. This project is completed on May 2026, the check dam has a total length of 28 meters and was completed at a total project cost of ₹776,466. The structure has been designed to harvest and conserve rainwater efficiently, ensuring better water availability for the surrounding area.
The check dam has an estimated water storage capacity of 6,125,000 liters, significantly improving groundwater recharge and increasing water availability for agriculture and domestic use. By retaining rainwater that would otherwise flow away, the project helps reduce water scarcity, supports sustainable farming practices, and strengthens the village’s resilience during dry seasons.
