In the year 2022, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, with the generous support of Mr. Girish Naik, successfully completed a transformative River Desilting and Widening Project at Godyacha Pada (Upper), Murbad. This crucial intervention significantly enhanced the water holding capacity of the river, resulting in an impressive increase in storage by approximately 38,58,000 liters. The project was implemented with a financial expenditure of ₹5.0 lakh, a modest investment considering the large-scale impact it generated.
Designed with the local community’s long-term water needs in mind, this initiative now directly benefits around 120 villagers by improving year-round access to water for daily use, agriculture, and livestock. Beyond the immediate utility, the effort has also improved groundwater recharge and strengthened the region’s resilience against seasonal water scarcity.
The successful completion of this project is a testament to VSM’s commitment to rural water sustainability, made possible through targeted donor support and efficient, on-ground execution. It stands as a replicable model of community-centered environmental restoration and water security.
