Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal (VSM), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Thane, successfully completed a landmark water conservation project in Lenad, Taluka Shahapur. Constructed in 2022, the project has created a massive 7,07,04,000 liters of water storage capacity, significantly strengthening the village’s water security and providing long-term benefits for the community.
Executed at a cost of ₹45.00 lakhs, this initiative has transformed access to water for the villagers. The improved infrastructure now ensures reliable domestic water supply for households and provides essential drinking water for cattle, supporting the livelihoods of families dependent on livestock. This has reduced the hardships caused by water scarcity, especially during dry seasons.
Additionally, the project has had a remarkable impact on approximately 60 acres of agricultural land. By improving soil moisture and supporting crop growth, it has enhanced agricultural productivity and bolstered the economic resilience of the village. The Lenad project exemplifies VSM’s commitment to sustainable water management, ecological restoration, and rural development.
