In 2021, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal initiated a vital water conservation project in Mahaj village, Taluka Murbad, to address the increasing challenges of water scarcity faced by local communities. Designed with sustainability and long-term utility in mind, the project focused on capturing and storing rainwater effectively to ensure year-round availability for essential daily needs.

The constructed structure has a storage capacity of 3,82,000 liters, providing a dependable water source for the residents. Completed with a cost-efficient budget of just ₹0.40 lakhs, this initiative reflects VSM’s commitment to delivering high-impact solutions with minimal resources. The stored water is now extensively used for domestic purposes and for cattle, offering significant relief to families who previously struggled during dry spells.

The project has not only reduced the distance villagers need to travel to fetch water but also strengthened the local livestock-dependent economy by ensuring consistent water availability. Additionally, the structure supports groundwater recharge and improves the ecological balance of the surrounding region.
