Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal successfully implemented a water conservation project at Mhadas village in Murbad Taluka in 2025, aimed at addressing water scarcity and enhancing the availability of this precious resource for the local community. Seasonal water shortages had long affected domestic needs and livestock health, making the conservation of local water bodies crucial for the village’s well-being and sustainability.
Through careful planning and community participation, the project increased the water storage capacity to an estimated 1,27,00,000 liters. This stored water now provides a dependable source for domestic use, reducing the daily challenges faced by villagers in collecting water from distant or unreliable sources. Additionally, the conserved water has become a vital resource for cattle, supporting livestock health and securing the livelihoods of farming families.
Beyond immediate use, the project has improved groundwater recharge in the area, ensuring better water availability in nearby wells and hand pumps. This initiative reflects Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal’s commitment to sustainable water management and rural development, helping communities adapt to seasonal and climate-related water challenges.
