In June 2025, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal successfully completed a significant Rainwater Harvesting Project at Prem Kutir (Old Age Home), Karjat, marking yet another milestone in their ongoing mission to promote water conservation across rural Maharashtra. This project, generously sponsored by Prem Kutir itself, was designed to address the water needs of the elderly residents by harvesting and storing rainwater for year-round use. With an impressive annual water-saving capacity of 9,45,000 litres, this initiative now ensures reliable water availability for 50 beneficiaries, significantly improving their quality of life.
The project was executed at a total expenditure of ₹5,74,667, which covered design, materials, implementation, and supervision. The rainwater harvesting system is now fully completed and operational, contributing directly to groundwater recharge and sustainable resource usage. This project exemplifies the impact of community-driven solutions supported by dedicated organizations like Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, whose vision continues to transform water-scarce regions into self-sustaining ecosystems.
