Sashakiya Ashram School Sasane
A Rain Water Harvesting system was established at Sashakiy Ashram School Sasane with the aim of conserving rainwater and improving water security for the surrounding community. This initiative was designed to address water scarcity challenges and promote sustainable use of natural resources.
The project was generously supported by Trafigura and completed in February 2025, with a total expenditure of ₹3,86,000. With the system in place, the project is capable of harvesting and saving approximately 6,79,500 litres of rainwater annually, which significantly contributes to groundwater recharge and ensures year-round availability of water.
This intervention has brought direct benefits to 416 households, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of residents by improving their access to water and reducing their dependence on depleting sources. The active involvement of the local community, along with the sponsorship from Trafigura, was vital in bringing this project to fruition.Now completed, the Rain Water Harvesting project at Sashakiy Ashram School Sasane stands as a successful example of sustainable development and collective action, fostering resilience and environmental stewardship within the community.
