Sheel

Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal implemented a water conservation project at Sheel village in Shahapur Taluka during the year 2023, with the objective of ensuring reliable water availability for domestic needs and livestock. The region frequently experiences seasonal water scarcity, affecting daily life and agricultural activities, making this initiative highly significant for the local community.

Through planned interventions and community cooperation, the project created an estimated water storage capacity of 4,69,000 liters. This conserved water now serves as a dependable source for household use, reducing the daily hardship faced by villagers, especially women, in fetching water from distant locations. In addition, the availability of water has greatly benefited cattle, ensuring better animal health and supporting the livelihoods of farming families.

The project has also contributed to improved groundwater recharge, positively impacting cultivation activities across approximately 20 acres of agricultural land. The initiative was financed by Naam, whose generous support enabled the successful execution of this project. Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal continues to focus on sustainable water management solutions that are environmentally responsible and socially impactful.

By strengthening local water resources, the Sheel village project has enhanced resilience against drought and improved overall quality of life for the community.
