Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal undertook an important water conservation initiative at Takichiwadi Bhinar-2 village in Shahapur Taluka during the year 2023, aiming to address recurring water scarcity in this rural and forest-adjacent region. The project was designed to create a sustainable water source that would support local ecology, livestock, and surrounding agricultural land.
As a result of this initiative, an estimated water storage capacity of 4,80,000 liters has been created. This conserved water has become a vital resource during dry seasons, especially for wild animals and birds that depend on natural water bodies which often dry up in summer. The availability of water has also been beneficial for cattle in the village, reducing the burden on villagers to travel long distances in search of water for livestock.
In addition to ecological benefits, the project contributes to groundwater recharge and improved soil moisture, indirectly supporting cultivation across approximately 25 acres of agricultural land. The project was financed by Naam, whose support played a key role in the successful execution of this initiative. Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal continues to work with dedication to promote sustainable water management and environmental balance in water-stressed regions.
