Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal (VSM) undertook a crucial desilting project in the village of Talavali (Khedle), Murbad, to enhance water availability and support the local community. The project focused on the desilting of a 5,876 sqm lake, which had suffered from reduced water storage capacity due to silt accumulation. By removing 2,100 cubic meters of silt, the initiative significantly improved the lake’s capacity, enabling it to store an additional 2.1 million liters of water.
The total expenditure for the project amounted to ₹1.51 lakh, ensuring an efficient and cost-effective solution to the region’s water scarcity issues. Sponsored entirely by Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal (VSM), this initiative was completed successfully in 2020, marking a significant step towards sustainable water conservation in Murbad. The increased storage capacity has provided long-term benefits to the local population, supporting agriculture, livestock, and daily water needs.
