Water Conservation Project – Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal
Village: Talawali-3, Taluka: Murbad
Year of Construction: 2016
Financed by: Rotary Club of Thane
Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal successfully implemented a major water conservation initiative in Talawali-3, Murbad, aimed at improving water availability for local farmers and strengthening rural livelihoods. Completed in 2016, this project involved the creation of a water storage structure with an estimated capacity of 16,00,000 litres. The construction, completed at a cost of ₹2.6 lakh, has played a vital role in ensuring year-round water supply for agricultural needs.
The project has directly supported 10 acres of cultivation land, enabling farmers to grow crops with greater confidence and reduced dependency on monsoon rainfall. Steady water availability has improved crop yields, stabilized income, and promoted sustainable farming practices in the region. Beyond agriculture, the increased groundwater recharge has enhanced the overall ecological balance and provided long-term benefits to the community.
This initiative stands as a strong example of how collective effort, community participation, and responsible funding can create lasting environmental and social impact.
