Talawali-4

Talawali-4

The village of Talawali-4 in Murbad Taluka has long depended on seasonal rainfall for agriculture and daily needs. To address recurring water scarcity and support sustainable farming, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal undertook a major water conservation initiative in 2018. This project was generously financed by Rotary Club Thane, enabling the construction of a large-scale water storage system designed to enhance the village’s long-term water security.

The structure has an impressive estimated storage capacity of 60,00,000 liters, significantly improving groundwater levels and ensuring year-round availability of water. With this increased water supply, approximately 10 acres of cultivation area now benefits from improved irrigation. Farmers have been able to grow multiple crops, reduce dependency on rainfall, and achieve better yields. The project has helped uplift local livelihoods, improved soil moisture retention, and strengthened the village’s resilience against drought.

This initiative has not only provided water but also renewed hope and stability for the beneficiary families who rely on agriculture for their daily income and sustenance.
