Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, successfully completed the Tembhurli Check Dam in Taluka Shahapur with the generous support of the Godrej Foundation. The project was completed on 26 May at a total cost of ₹669,203. The check dam has a length of 35.2 meters and a height of 3.2 meters, providing a strong and effective structure for rainwater harvesting and water conservation.
The Tembhurli Check Dam has an estimated water storage capacity of 28,500,000 liters, making it a significant source of water for the surrounding area. By capturing and storing rainwater, the project enhances groundwater recharge, improves water availability for agriculture and domestic use, and helps reduce the impact of seasonal water scarcity. The check dam also supports sustainable farming practices and contributes to the long-term environmental health of the region.
