In 2021, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal implemented an impactful water conservation project in Umroli village, Taluka Murbad, to address the growing need for reliable water sources for the local dairy-dependent community. Recognizing the importance of water in sustaining livestock and supporting rural livelihoods, the project was designed to harvest and store rainwater efficiently, ensuring year-round supply for dairy farming activities.
The structure created under this initiative provides an impressive 3,40,000 liters of water storage capacity. Despite its significant impact, the project was completed at a highly economical cost of ₹0.27 lakhs, showcasing VSM’s commitment to delivering sustainable solutions with maximum resource efficiency. The availability of this stored water has strengthened dairy farming in Umroli by ensuring that cattle have access to sufficient water even during harsh summer months.
This project has reduced the dependency of villagers on external water sources, improved cattle health, and enhanced daily productivity for families engaged in dairy farming. It also contributes to groundwater recharge and promotes long-term ecological stability in the region.
