Vaishakhare Near Bridge

Vaishakhare Near Bridge

In May 2024, a significant river desilting and widening project was successfully completed near the bridge at Vaishakhare, under the guidance and initiative of Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal. This strategic intervention focused on the removal of excess silt and the widening of the natural watercourse to enhance its capacity and restore its natural flow. As a result of this effort, the project achieved an impressive increase in water storage capacity by 40,67,000 liters annually, contributing immensely to the water security of the surrounding region. The improved flow has not only helped in reducing the risk of local flooding during heavy rains but also ensured better percolation of water into the ground, aiding in groundwater recharge.

Although the specific expenditure details and direct beneficiaries have not been disclosed, the completion of this project marks another milestone in VSM’s mission to revive and preserve natural water bodies. It stands as a testament to sustainable environmental practices and a community-driven approach to ecological restoration. The project’s timely execution before monsoon ensures that the benefits will be immediately realized in the very next rainfall cycle, thus positively impacting agriculture, water availability, and overall ecological balance in the region.
