The Check Dam project, located near the bridge in Vaishakhare, Murbad, stands as a testament to sustainable water management and community upliftment. This initiative was designed to address water scarcity issues in the region, improve agricultural prospects, and support local livelihoods.
The dam has an impressive capacity to store 22,100,000 litres of water, ensuring a consistent water supply for the local community. While the exact area under cultivation is yet to be determined, the enhanced water availability is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity in the surrounding areas, fostering economic growth and food security.
Generously funded by Amogh Chemicals, the project was completed within a budget of ₹8.65 lakhs. This financial support not only enabled the construction of the dam but also contributed to the socio-economic development of the region.
The project provided direct employment to 10 local laborers, offering them a reliable source of income during its implementation phase. By engaging the local workforce, the initiative also fostered a sense of ownership and participation among the community members.
The construction of the Check Dam was successfully completed in May 2024. It is now fully operational, serving as a critical resource for water conservation and supporting the local population in their agricultural and daily water needs. The project marks a significant milestone in sustainable development for the Vaishakhare region.
