Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal successfully carried out a water conservation project at Vaishakhare village near the Temple area in Murbad Taluka during the year 2024. The initiative was undertaken to revive and strengthen a local water source that is essential for meeting the daily water needs of the village community and supporting livestock throughout the year.
The project has created an estimated water storage capacity of 23,49,000 liters. This significant increase in stored water has ensured a reliable supply for domestic use, greatly easing the challenges faced by villagers during dry seasons. The availability of water has also been highly beneficial for cattle, providing a dependable source that supports animal health and reduces the need for long-distance water collection.
In addition to its immediate benefits, the project has contributed to improved groundwater recharge, helping maintain water levels in nearby wells and hand pumps. Community participation played an important role in the successful execution of the project. Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal remains dedicated to implementing sustainable and environmentally responsible water conservation solutions in rural areas.
By conserving and restoring traditional water bodies like the Vaishakhare Temple water source, the project has strengthened long-term water security and improved the overall quality of life for the local population.
