Waghachi Wadi

Waghachi Wadi

The village of Waghachi Wadi in Murbad Taluka has faced years of water scarcity, affecting domestic needs, cattle, and agricultural activities. To combat these challenges and provide long-term water security, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, with generous financial support from Trafigura, implemented a significant water conservation project in 2019.

As part of this initiative, a robust water storage structure with an estimated capacity of 42,00,000 liters was constructed. This reservoir has greatly improved year-round access to water for the entire community. The enhanced availability of water has enabled nearly 40 acres of cultivation land to be brought under reliable irrigation. Farmers can now grow more crops, increase yields, and reduce their dependence on unpredictable rainfall.

In addition to supporting agriculture, the project has played a crucial role in improving domestic water supply and ensuring sufficient water for cattle, which form the backbone of many families’ livelihoods. The improved groundwater recharge and consistent supply have strengthened the village’s resilience against drought and water shortages.
