A Rain Water Harvesting system was successfully implemented at Z.P. School Alyani, Shahapur, aimed at addressing the persistent water scarcity in the region and encouraging sustainable water management practices. The project was designed to efficiently capture and store rainwater, helping recharge groundwater and ensuring a consistent supply of water for the community throughout the year.
This initiative was generously sponsored by Mahindra Finance and completed in February 2025, with a total expenditure of ₹2,92,500. The system has the capacity to harvest approximately 4,86,000 litres of rainwater annually, significantly strengthening the water security of the area and supporting environmental sustainability efforts.
The project benefits 182 households, positively impacting their daily lives by providing more reliable access to water and reducing dependency on dwindling and uncertain sources. The collaborative effort of Mahindra Finance, the implementation team, and the active participation of the local community were key to the successful completion of this project.
Now completed, the Rain Water Harvesting project at Z.P. School Alyani stands as an excellent example of how thoughtful interventions and corporate social responsibility can work hand in hand to create sustainable solutions that improve the lives of rural communities and safeguard natural resources for future generations.
