Rainwater Harvesting Project at Z. P. School Bandalpada, Murbad
Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, remains committed to sustainable water solutions, ensuring rural communities have access to clean water. In May 2024, the NGO successfully implemented a Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system at Z. P. School Bandalpada, Murbad, with the generous support of Gattefosse. This initiative addresses the growing need for water conservation and sustainable resource management in educational institutions.
The project is designed to harvest rainwater from the 160 sq. m rooftop of the school building, ensuring an efficient collection and storage system. With an estimated annual potential of 360,000 liters, this system will significantly reduce dependence on external water sources and provide safe water for 165 beneficiaries, including students and staff. By utilizing the catchment area effectively, the harvested water can be used for drinking, sanitation, and other essential school activities, fostering a healthier learning environment.
The total project contractor cost of ₹5,05,500 covers infrastructure, filtration, and storage setup, ensuring a long-term, low-maintenance solution for water security. This initiative is not just about water conservation—it also serves as a learning model for students, instilling awareness about sustainable water management. Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal continues to drive impactful projects that empower communities through resource-efficient solutions, ensuring a water-secure future for generations to come.
