A Rain Water Harvesting system was implemented at Z. P. School Kalambad with the objective of conserving water and improving groundwater recharge for the surrounding community. The project was designed to address the local water scarcity issues while promoting sustainable practices among residents.
Sponsored by Trafigura, the project was completed in May 2024 at a total cost of ₹5,43,350. With the system now fully operational, it is capable of harvesting and saving approximately 6,86,250 litres of rainwater annually. This initiative is a vital step towards ensuring long-term water security and improving the environmental health of the area.
The project benefits 90 Students directly, providing them with improved access to water and reducing their dependency on external water sources. The involvement and cooperation of the local community, along with the generous support of Trafigura, were key factors in the project’s success.
With its completed status, the Rain Water Harvesting system at Z. P. School Kalambad stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and sustainable development, offering a replicable model for similar initiatives in other regions.
