Rainwater Harvesting Project at Z.P. School, Lenad Khurd, Shahapur
Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, is dedicated to sustainable rural development, with a strong focus on water conservation. In collaboration with Mahindra Finance, we have undertaken a Rainwater Harvesting project completed in the year September 2024 at Z.P. School, Lenad Khurd, Shahapur, to address water scarcity and ensure a reliable water supply for the community.
This initiative will directly benefit 77 individuals, including students and staff, by utilizing the rooftop of the educational building as a catchment area. The system is designed to harvest up to 5.04 Lac litres of rainwater per year. This will significantly reduce dependence on external water sources, providing sustainable access to clean water.
The contractor expenditure for implementing this project is 2.96 lac rupees, covering infrastructure setup, filtration systems, and maintenance. By capturing and storing rainwater, this initiative will not only meet the school’s water needs but also contribute to groundwater recharge, fostering long-term water security.
At Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, we believe that water conservation is the key to rural empowerment. Through such projects, we aim to create self-sufficient communities where access to water is no longer a challenge. We extend our gratitude to Mahindra Finance for their generous support in making this initiative a reality, ensuring a better and more sustainable future for the students and the surrounding community.
