Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, successfully completed the Rain Water Harvesting Project at Z. P. School, Maal, located in Maal Village, Taluka Murbad, in March 2026. The project was implemented with the generous support of Mahindra Finance at a total expenditure of ₹262,150. The rainwater harvesting system has been designed to collect and store approximately 376,000 liters of rainwater annually from a 65 sq. m. rooftop area, ensuring efficient utilization of rainwater and promoting sustainable water conservation.
The harvested rainwater helps improve water availability for the school while reducing dependence on external water sources. The project also contributes to groundwater recharge, minimizes rainwater runoff, and encourages the efficient use of natural resources. By capturing and storing rainwater, the initiative strengthens water security and supports environmentally sustainable practices within the school campus.
The Rain Water Harvesting Project directly benefits 94 people, providing a reliable water resource for students, staff, and the local community. In addition to addressing water conservation needs, the project serves as an educational example of responsible environmental stewardship, inspiring future generations to value and protect water resources. Through initiatives like this, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, continues its commitment to sustainable development and community well-being.
