Rainwater Harvesting Project at Z.P. School Manivali, Murbad
Vasundhra Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, in collaboration with Mahindra Finance, has initiated a significant Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) project completed in the year Oct 2024 at Z.P. School Manivali, Murbad. This project aims to address the water scarcity issues in the region by utilizing rooftop rainwater collection techniques to ensure sustainable water availability for the community.
The project is designed to capture and store rainwater efficiently. The harvested water will benefit 111 individuals, primarily school students and residents from nearby houses. The catchment area includes rooftops of houses near the school, helping to optimize water collection. The system has the potential to harvest 3.15 Lac litres of rainwater annually, significantly contributing to groundwater recharge and reducing dependency on external water sources.
The total contractor expenditure of implementing this project is ₹2.65 lac, covering materials, installation, and maintenance. This initiative is a step towards ensuring water conservation, promoting environmental sustainability, and improving the quality of life for the beneficiaries. By implementing such projects, Vasundhra Sanjivani Mandal continues its mission of rural development through water conservation, empowering communities with sustainable water management solutions.
