Rainwater Harvesting Project at Z.P. School Mhadas, Murbad
Empowering Rural Schools with Sustainable Water Solutions
Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, is dedicated to sustainable water conservation through innovative projects that address critical water shortages in rural Maharashtra. One such initiative is the Rainwater Harvesting Project completed in the year Nov 2024 at Z.P. School Mhadas, Murbad. With the generous support of Mahindra Finance, this project aims to provide a reliable and sustainable water source to 37 beneficiaries, primarily school children and staff. By utilizing the school’s educational building as the catchment area, the system is designed to collect and store up to 2.70 lac litres of rainwater annually.
The project leverages a rooftop area to efficiently capture and channel rainwater, ensuring year-round availability for essential needs such as drinking, sanitation, and hygiene. With an contractor expenditure of ₹3.08 Lac this initiative is a significant step towards water security, reducing dependency on external water sources and fostering self-sufficiency. By implementing rainwater harvesting, the school not only secures its water supply but also educates young minds on the importance of conservation and sustainable resource management.
Through such impactful projects, Vasundhara Sanjivani Mandal continues its mission to transform water management in rural areas, ensuring that educational institutions remain resilient against water scarcity. This initiative reflects the power of collective efforts in building a water-secure future for India’s villages.
