Z. P. School Shirgaon
A Rain Water Harvesting system was successfully implemented at Z. P. School Shirgaon, with the goal of conserving rainwater and ensuring sustainable water availability for the local community. This initiative was taken up to combat water scarcity, replenish groundwater, and promote environmental sustainability in the region.
The project was generously sponsored by Trafigura and completed in February 2025, with a total expenditure of ₹5,02,000. The system is designed to harvest and save approximately 4,38,750 litres of rainwater annually, which significantly contributes to enhancing the water table and meeting the water needs of the area.
This initiative has brought tangible benefits to 155 households, improving their access to water and reducing dependency on unpredictable water sources. The collaboration between Trafigura, the implementing agency, and the participation of the community played a key role in the project’s success.Now completed, the Rain Water Harvesting project at Z. P. School Shirgaon stands as a strong example of how sustainable practices and partnerships can bring meaningful change, securing water for communities and fostering a sense of responsibility towards natural resources.
