Rainwater Harvesting Project at Z. P. School Zhadghar , Shahapur
Vasundhra Sanjivani Mandal, Thane, has successfully implemented a Rainwater Harvesting project completed in the year December 2024 at Z. P. School Zhadghar, located in Shahapur. This project aims to provide sustainable water solutions to the community by collecting and storing rainwater for future use. The project benefits 143 individuals, including students and local residents, ensuring that they have access to clean water for their daily needs.
The rainwater harvesting system captures rainwater from the rooftops of the educational building and the Grampanchayat building. The system has the potential to collect up to 6.21 Lac litres of water annually, significantly alleviating water scarcity in the region. This harvested water will be used for purposes such as solving the school’s water problem, sanitation, and other community needs, reducing dependence on external water sources.
The total contractor expenditure of the project is ₹3.49 lac, which includes the installation of the necessary infrastructure and equipment for water storage and filtration. The project has been made possible with the generous support of Mahindra Finance, whose contribution has enabled Vasundhra Sanjivani Mandal to implement this environmentally sustainable solution. This initiative not only addresses the immediate water needs of the community but also promotes long-term water conservation practices, ensuring that the benefits extend for years to come.
